What is an “Eco-Museum”?
What is an “Eco-Museum”?
The daily life of the region’s residents and the development of its natural, cultural and social environment was historically researched with the goal of contributing to the social development of the region by protecting, cultivating and exhibiting that heritage in an open-air museum. The Eco-Museum is defined as something which has been created together by the government and residents. (From the MEXT homepage)
Seventh Avenue Ryokudo Eco-Museum
While continuing to preserve and utilize this resource, which was built by our predecessors, with connections to the daily lives of multiple generations, we will learn about the history and nature of the Asahikawa area, search for the true meaning of wealth, work together with the city on a new endeavour of telling stories of a bright future through Seventh Avenue Ryokudo. Through the efforts of people with thorough knowledge of the area as “Eco-museum Guides”, we hope to improve the delight and enjoyment of strolling through this comfortable green-space.
